My laptop screen busted on me today and I’ve been running around like crazy trying to figure out whether to pay to get it fixed or buy a new machine. All the while losing precious hours at work and not listening to the show. But you don’t care about my computer, you care about the issues, except I don’t know what’s going on because now I’m using one of those old-fashioned CRT monitors that’s glowing in my face and I can’t stand to stare at it any longer. So have at if, folks!
Stimulate the economy and buy a new machine….lol I’m just kidding of course but I personally use any excuse to get my wife to allow me to buy a new toy for myself…
I thought the discussion today about the CPD and it’s exclusion of third parties was great. it needs to happen more and more mainstream media really need to pick up on it and make it an issue so we can blow the doors off of it.
One thing that will certainly help our political process is legitimate competition and until the media pays attention to other candidates it will never happen. That is until people get so upset they actually take the time to do some research on their own and get involved in the process. I may never see that day though so my hope (as little of it remains) lies in the media taking up the good fight.
I’m so tired of seeing the sexy news about the two major candidates when things like the Pennsylvania ballot issue,
http://www.ballot-access.org/2008/09/15/barr-wins-pennsylvania-substitution-lawsuit/
and the Texas ballot access issue,
http://www.ballot-access.org/2008/09/16/barr-sues-texas-for-excusing-late-filing-by-republican-and-democratic-presidential-candidates/
,are going on and no one seems to care. In all truth I think those stories are more interesting than if Obama intended to call Palin a pig or not and the truth is who really cares whether he did or not. These cases will really allow us to get a handle on whether we live in a country governed by law or not.
I think the more exposure the smaller parties get the more popularity they will gain and at least one will emerge as a viable option with some serious clout. At least enough so to effect some really change in Washington even if not enough to actually get elected.
Ultimately it is “We the People” who have to take responsibility for where we are currently and changing our situation if we so desire to do so. Like I said before we can hope that the media does ti for us or we can get rolling on our own and not just do the research but spread the work about the smaller party candidate that best fits your ideological ideas.
I did kind of rant and derail myself to some degree here but that is why it’s an open thread right?

My thought is too many people feel that voting for a third party member is a waste of a vote. I believe there is no such thing as a wasted vote. If you are unhappy with one candidate I think vote for the top opponent doesn’t make a statement. If enough people vote for a third party candidate perhaps the major parties will get the point that “We the people” our disgusted with the way they are doing things. Someone losing an election is the best way to get their attention.

Well said.
News from Tuesday, sorry couldn’t get online Tuesday. Pete, I don’t mind you questioning something you don’t understand, in fact I expect you and anyone else to. But on the topic of hunting and taking a 3 year old. First of all, the 3 year old doesn’t fire the gun. All Cody is doing is acclimating his son to hunting and spending time with him and I imagine his son will appreciate the oppurtunity he had when he was younger. Also, Cody’s son will have storys of when he grew up being able to hunt with daddy at a young age. When I said before that Alaskan’s live a totaly different life, I wasn’t lying. This is no different then how people take their infants to a baseball game, same concept anyways. Even here in Wisconsin and in states like Michigan and Minnesota parents bring their kids hunting all the time, even as young as 3. I lived on Prince of Whales Island in the town of Craig, Alaska for a short time and the lifestyle is hugely different. As the life is hugely different. A caller from Ohio I believe (not John) said they have grocery stores in Alaska to, hes right they do. But nothing in a hunters point of view is better then fresh unprocessed game. This includes fish and woodland animals. It also saves alot of money. These people know how to butcher their own kill the only expense they have is the gun a one time bill, the ammo, not that much and the license. And those over 62 who reside in Alaska hunt and fish for free. You don’t have to understand or except the way of life but thats how it is.
On another note of Tuesday’s show. You are never too young to learn gun safety. I have guns, for the use of hunting and my future wife will know how to handle them even though she will prbably never use them, it’s just that important. And when I have kids when I feel they are ready they will know all about them as well. Even though all my guns have trigger locks and cases it’s still important as you never know what they will encounter at a friend’s house. Also if a dog can dial 911, a child can learn how to respect a deadly weapon and know what to do if he/she comes across one.
I was raised by a hunter in a family that hunts and my father and uncles made gun safety a priority over hunting. Gun mistakes generally happen only once but safety needs to happen all the time. Cody feels his 3 year old is at the age to start to learn about guns and being around them. Clearly Pete, you will parent to your best for whats best for your daughters and the same is for Cody, and your both in opposite worlds, I choose the Alaskan life personally.
I can’t believe my screen busted and displayed this link:

I’m definitly not arguing with you Dan, but being a furniture store owner is not a great acheivment and being a bank vice president is what I call being finacially educated, maybe John from Cleveland can weigh in on this one. And this private school, how much was it then? My niece attends a private school, mostly because of her young age and public school didn’t want her for another year. And my brother and his wife are not rich. Hes a truck driver making maybe $40-$45,000 per year and she makes somewhere in the neighborhood of $13.00 per hour.

Your niece’s private school cost $14,000 a year? If i am not mistaken, i think obama’s kids go to a school that cost $20,000 plus/year. Why do all these famous liberals send their kids to private school? Aren’t they all about public schools? Strange.

Okay, Dan, that’s the last time you get to post a link promoting your own YouTube page. This blog is for Pete’s self-promotion, not yours. You are more than welcome to spend years developing a talented persona and get your own radio show, or set up your own blog. Thanks for your cooperation!

I apoligize, I did not want to upset you. I hope you will forgive me. Thank you for calling me talented i really appreciate that. I am on top of a big mountain because of your flowery comments. I put my youtube space on other blogs so don’t feel special. If you are making a rule i will follow it because i am an honorable man.
I love pete’s show and don’t want you guys to be mad. My tears are flowing like rain and my clothes are all wet(from other things). Pete’s “perception” of obama is driven by denial.
A great video that i wish i could take credit is the following. Hi-f-ing-ilarious!!!!!

Buy a new one, Brian. The cost of replacing the screen will outweigh the cost of a new machine. I was able to get my wife a nice fancy laptop for ~499 at Fry’s. It will be 500-600 to replace the screen.
Hey Pete, get rid of the Captcha crap requirement for posting. I hate having to type that crap in!

Gary if you register login you will only have to deal with Captcha ONE MORE time. I promise.
On the laptop, I am rocking a 3-year old Ferrari 4005 with a 1600×1280 resolution screen. I can’t at the moment afford anything with a screen that nice, and the resolution is the most important feature to me. It’s only costing me $150 to fix the bulb in the screen, which sucks but is better than the $2000 I’d otherwise have to shell out.

Brian, if its only a bulb go for it. If it were a new panel you’d be screwed. Glad to see you can get it repaired cheaply!

Brian,
IE returns a javascript error on this site in function ‘AC_FL_RunContent’.
I was using IE because until reading this post today I have not seen a login link for WP accounts and thought perhaps it wasn’t showing due to my browser.
I have to come back to this page to link to the login page every time my session is reset. FWIW, a login link on the sidebar would be helpful.

I am pretty sure that site leans left. I have gone on there before. A more centered website is probably:
ontheissues.org
I also go to Left websites, Right websites, news websites, center websites, all sorts of local newspaper websites that i have in about ten different folders in my favorites

I changed my user name when I registered, I am still Scott the Trucker, but I switched to my yahoo name since being a trucker is not a career for me and when I stop trucking I’ll be Scott the “something else”.
