“If you're going to tell people the truth, you better make them laugh; otherwise they'll kill you.”  —George Bernard Shaw

Monday’s Lineup…

Pete’s kicking off the week with some great stuff…

“Self-made millionaire” Al Parinello of Preserve the American Dream (PAID) will be on to talk about how the wealthy are “America’s most hated and despised minority.” That should be loads of fun.

“Bill Clinton” calls in with a special message.

And… a new study suggests the US war in Iraq will cost $12 billion a month in 2008. It’s just a guess, but I suspect Pete will be none too pleased about that one. Got a better idea where that money could go?

Pete’s also going to try to address some topics sent in by listeners over email, so keep the ideas coming…

I understand sort of what Al was trying to say about the rich being despised. I think some people do feel like the rich just want to be richer at all costs. I think he is trying to sell the wrong msg though. The Rich are NOT a dying out breed. There will always be people who want to work hard to make something of themselves. I think instead of selling a msg that is so negative i think he needs to look at things from another point of view.
I am doing well at work and I work hard. Has the company I work for has grown so has my paycheck. It affords my family to live rather comfortably. I think a point that Al is missing to explain is that with that growth I have to pay more taxes!!! I work hard, I have to travel from my husband and kids often and yet the more I make the more taxes I pay. I know people that know how to work the system very well and get WIC, medicaid, and other benefits and got a nice fat tax return this year for not working hard and staying home and watching tv. We inturn even itemizing everything we can are only getting a small return.
Why should I and others who are working more hours and harder than some other lazy folks be penalized for that work ethic and be taxed more and get less of a return back. Why can we not all be responsible for the same amount of taxes. Just because I work harder to make more money why should I have to pay more taxes. We should all have to pay the same taxes no matter how much money we make. If others work harder to make more then that is their right. Everyone has the oppurtunity to live the american dream if they follow what they love to do and make their focus what they love and not the dollars.
I think from Al’s website that he has some good points but I think has has the wrong attitude and the wrong direction for getting his msg across. I think he is missing the boat with all his hostility and generalizations.
I love Pete’s show because he demands facts to back up beliefs and opinions. This show is all about factual information and not gossip and heresay.
So Al go do your homework and get some factual info to back up your BS! Don’t give us listeners gossip! We have had enough!
