Make PetesBIGmouth Bigger !
Hey Guys
Thanks so much for all of your comments on the blog , e mails and for listening to the show. I am really proud of what we are doing. In a week we will have been on the air for almost 3 months. When I say “we” I mean me and you, the listeners.
I create a discussion and you help drive it through your calls and your e mails. What I want more than anything is for this to last. I want this show to be the biggest thing on Sirius outside of Howard. I want you to help me make that happen.
I am working on a lot of ideas on how to make the show better. That includes more comedy and more regular segments like “change petes mind” “asshole of the week” and more bits and more panel discussions
So I am looking for your feedback. What us working and what is not ? What topics would you like me to discuss more ? Let me know.
Thanks again for believing in me and what we are trying to do together
Pete
First off, Pete don’t assume that we believe in you. (just kidding)
I would love to get off the current election for a tad and discuss something that impacts many of your listeners.
I know that I discuss it alot but I would love to have an hour where we discuss personal finance. There is a wide range of items to discuss. Such as investing, home buying, personal spending, budgeting, your credit report… I can go on but I choose not to.
I know that it is probably boring to some, but there are so many lessons that we were never taught that need to get smacked into our heads. I’d love to help this show and participate as well.
On the side…. If you want to engage your audience a tad more, have a thread where people submit their ideas to you and take an hour or two every week and discuss them. Call it the User Submission Hour or something.

John, I love the idea of personal finance on Pete’s show; the thought of someone, in the field of finance preferably, to come in and discuss the manner in which we should be using our money is great. Personal finance is something schools do not teach at all, yet it is something that impacts our country greatly, which in turn impacts the world’s economy. Our country is in dire straits because of our education: we cannot comprehend what we read ( the loan documents) and we do not understand the consequences of the document we signed when it states we need only pay the interest on a loan. Granted that’s not the only reason of our country’s dillema, but it certainly adds to it.
Having someone with experience on how to handle money will help. Should I buy the 22 inch rims for my ‘01 Saturn? Maybe if I knew that the purchase of said rims would decrease MPG due to added friction between the tire and the pavement, the added weight of the rim and larger tires, and a larger diameter tire will cause the transmission and differencial gearing to be out of whack. If we knew this, maybe we can take the $1800 purchase price of the rims and tires and save it; better yet, buy bonds, invest in Alcoa, the makers of rims and many aluminum products, or simply buy currency from another country and wait for the economy to change and buy your dolars back (that one’s risky, have faith, luck, and experience in world economy first.)
By investing in our country and their companies, we are investing in our future.
Love your comments John, and love Pete’s Big Mouth but don’t listen as much as I would like due to my schedule.

Thanks for the kind words… I’d love to come on the air and discuss this some day, but since I am not a published expert, I doubt that anyone would listen… plus, the show would probably digress to one where people simply talk about people they know’s stupid purchases and how big business is taking advantage of the little man.
I will tell you that your statement of "simply buy currency from another country and wait for the economy to change and buy your dolars back " is 100% incorrect. People in other countries should be buying dollars right now.
If 100 Euro = 150 dollars now what happens when the dollar rebounds and goes 1:1? You’d have bought 100 Euro with $150 and it would only be worth $100… You’d lose…. On the other side of the coin, the European investor who got $150 for 100 Euro would change it back into 150 Euro. This is one of the strengths of a weak dollar, it really attracts foreign investment.

John, is response to your comments about the euros vs dollars, I never mentioned euros, there are other forms of currency in the world whith which to make money; trust me. Study first before doing this, it is very risky.

Martin,
You don’t buy another country’s currency while yours is in the tank. Other nations buy the dollar. It doesn’t matter if they are rupees, reals, pesos, or euros.
You will want to convert the currency back into american dollars at some point and by that time the dollar has rebounded and you will lose.
I think pushing the ‘boring’ stuff off to the blog is a probably a good way to address important topics which aren’t always entertaining. Perhaps a new category called "Bores Pete"? I think Pete cries ‘boring’ because big words frighten him. Someone get Pete a link to an online dictionary so he can look things up and be less confused.
Use the blog to involve replay listeners, by posting blog entries regularly. Word Press (the blog script used here) can publish according to a schedule, so you can create open/topic threads in advance, but they won’t appear until the date and time of your choosing.
And let us not forget: MORE CHARTS
Pete this Blog is just fine the way it is. It should be forum for your listeners to engage in itelligent discussion and debate. If they want to get a hold of you, they can call into the show or e-mail, or post it here. Your show is great and so are your bloggers.
Pete, I started listening early on and I can tell you are really getting comfortable with this gig. You’ve made some enormous improvements already and I can tell by your motivation you will continue to improve. I’ve actually been thinking of ways to get more people involved and aware of the show. Your interview with that woman who wrote the book Not Keeping Up With Our Parents was great. Actually most of your interviews are interesting, like that guy who talked about terrorism a few weeks back. But your callers are a big part of the show’s unique flavor. I love the personalities, how you keep the show rolling with your stupid ass jokes (j/k) out of nowhere, and let people express their ideas. It’s the stellar callers like Mike on Long Island, whats-his-name in Boston, Gay Trucker Steve, Todd from Florida, etc. and Myself who really make the show work. Haha…..
John from Cleveland, I agree with you almost all the time. But personal finance? zzzzzzzzz……..

I think the topic of personal finance is certainly boring, but its relevance in terms of building up a society of self-governing owners is critically important.
Take the routine anti-corporate diatribes and screeds, heard and read on shows and blogs like PBM, talkleft, myDD, daily KOS, Air America - wouldn’t it be a better world if the material advancement of humanity fostered by amoral free enterprise were checked by shareholders who agreed with PBM, et al? Won’t it be a good day when most everyone owns varied stocks and other investment vehicles and anti-corporate moralizers such as M. Moore and BigBro lead consumer unions which organize boycotts and stock recommendations for members?

It’s a beautiful vision.
Hi Pete,
First off, I love the show and listen everyday at work. One of these days I might actually get to call in but you are on during "work hours" and I am sure the government agency I work for might frown upon the idea of using their phone to call your show.
My only suggestion would be to let the people you disagree with finish their thoughts and then let them have it. The ignorance that some of these callers display is astonishing! What rock did you crawl out from under?
"Ass Hole of the Week"
Here’s my vote.. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24619392/
Last year, Congress approved a 3.5 percent raise for troops, which took effect in January. The White House opposed the increase because it said it would cost more than $2 billion if maintained for five years.
Those in the White House who opposed the increase should "actually" get paid for what enlisted members in military make for a year and let me know if they still oppose the increase.
Anyways, love your show! Keep it up!

This is how our Republican controlled government "supports our troops".
Thanks to you, I have a reason to live!
Pete the show is awesome. I’ve listened in since about day three (when I discovered it) and think you and the cast you work with have come along way. As well as many callers. From about 5 am to 2 pm I listen to Sirius 147 Road Dog to keep up with my profession. Today (5/16/08) someone did actually mention Sirius 110 and how the chanel as a whole is a great political station that allows listeners to chime in. The caller didn’t mention all the shows but talked of it as an entire channel. Which is a huge step for the new Sirius 110 Indi Talk.
As for John from Cleveland’s opinion. Yes! Lets talk about finances. Thats why this part of the globe is struggling. We all blame the government but in reality it’s only our own faults. Last year I made a lousy $28,000.00. That wasn’t my companies fault that I worked for, it was mine. I worked for them! Late last year I changed careers. I’m looking to not only increase my yearly earnings by as much as $10,000.00 plus. But my bills are being caught up, I have a 401K (not as much invested, but it’s a start) I have huge deductibles, this year is an estimated $13,000.00. And as bills hit the mailbox they pretty much go right back in paid. The finicial choices we make with our jobs and wants and needs reflect the lives we live. I read today on MSN.com about finances "we have our wants and our needs. We need to eat, but we want to eat prime rib." Seems so obvious, but it’s really not. If you brought on a few financial advisors and maybe even John for a little bit in an actual organized session all of us including you, Pete, will learn something. As boring as it may be, its educational. By the way, lets cover education as well!
In reply to Todd, Pete if you need it: www.dictionary.com. This also has a thesaurus on it too!!
Pete, also I know it’s hard for you to understand my phone calls, hence why I haven’t called in as much. But, it’s not my connection, I drive a big fucking truck that makes too much noise depending on how much I’m hauling. Which brings up another topic. Driving. We could discuss how and why people need common courtesy on the road. In my end of the world, how to drive amongst big rigs. Like finances, seems obvious, but it’s not. But also how to drive collectivly as a country. Traffic james aren’t just caused by construction, accidents or a million cars. They’re caused by stupid fucks who drive really slow in front of everybody else who is trying to go somewhere. Theres alot to discuss and I think we can all agree on one thing. Sirius has a great show on from 2pm to 5pm Monday through Friday and theres a lot of time to discuss it all.
You’ve got to get Paula Gloria and her crew on there!!!
That was some of the most bizarre radio i’ve ever heard…hit the link to my SN if you don’t know what i’m talking about…it’s the highlight of today’s blog:)
BTW…that Captcha recording shit don’t work right with Safari for Windows
Three blog posts in the month of May will not yield much in the way of web-driven publicity. Search engines will rank pages higher if the site itself has plenty of new content.
Registering with blog-aggregaters and using trackbacks to related blog entries will also improve rankings.
This is the information age, baybee! If you want to capture audience outside the Sirius subscription base, you need more savvy in the web dept…
Start a f’ing blog on today’s show. I will take all f’ing comers, Cody the douche included.
PS:
I put up the You tube videos because I realized how much you interrupted plus how much I digressed prevented me from making my points.
And I will do it again if Pete is a douche with my calls. (like putting me on mute, saying I have no credibility because I was admittedly wrong about something, then hanging up not allowing me to respond. That will get a YouTube response addressed to Stand Up Comedian Pete Dominick…
Hey Pete, I told you there were previous plane hijackings in the US. HAHAHAHA, never try to prove a woman wrong….lol, jk (or am I?)
Anyway, here are three I found, in 1971 by D.B. Cooper for a ransom of $200,000; in 1974 by Samual Joseph Bick to crash into the White House and kill Pres. Nixon; in 1994 by Auburn Calloway to use as a cruise missle against FedEx.
By the way, previously airlines were told to submit to any demands, after 9/11/01 they started arming the captains.
On the discussion of organized religion (or simply religion) and how it affects families, societies, countries, etc. The best way I can describe religion and how it affects the typical American family is how partially hydrogenated vegetable oil affects your basic health: it quietly and invisibly destroys you. it’s not so much that it (always) overtly affects your livelihood; it’s not that ALL religious people or communities are so warped and evil and uneducated; it’s more often a silent killer. Religion affects peoples way-of-thinking.
It narrows their minds, and limits their perspective on a range of simple, basic lifestyle issues, like whether or not to celebrate Father’s Day (as you mentioned the jehovah witness people do). It’s not so much a problem that these people inherently don’t celebrate Father’s Day. It’s the fact that they make it an issue NOT to celebrate it. It’s just a monumental waste of time and mental effort.
The thing about partially hydrogenated vegetable oil is that it exists in just about everything we eat, unless of course you’re particularly careful. That’s pretty much religion in a nutshell. It’s pretty much everywhere, but you just can’t always see how it affects the society you live in or the neighbor across the street or the city council member where you live.
the funny thing is religious people (and I hate to use such a sweeping generalization here…) tend to believe you’re the bad guy…I personally don’t care what religious people do…they can dance around naked howling at the moon for all I care - but if they keep waking me up at night because of their howling, then I’m forced to deal with it.

You know, I’ll be the first to say that organized religion has done much harm through the ages including the present.
But, you also have to admit it has done some good. Its charity work in many places would not be done by anyone else, although they do try to convert people at the same time.
It is a catch 22. The same can be said of government, capitalism, freedom and most other man made social structures.
My biggest beef with organized religion in this country is they get a free pass from the IRS even though they’ve injected themselves more and more into politics.
The mega churches out there could be contributing a nice chunk of change to our tax coffers if the laws were being enforced. I definitely include the Catholic, Baptists, and Evangelicals in the mix.
I am glad you have your blog up.
What I would like to see is something outside the partisan horse race. What I would like to see are independent voices. Rather than focus on McCain and Obama, bring in other voices.
It is not simply a case of highlighting third party candidates but ideas that get taken off the table. An independent approach is more than simply taking a non partisan stance, but highlighting ideas that are ignored by the duopoly.
I think interview / discussion like you did with the doc would be cool. I think coverage of third party candidates would be nice. Even if we don’t vote for then in November they tend to highlight issues that cross the partisan line. There is a reason Paul and Nader did agree on core issues even though they are an opposite sides of the political field.
For me Obama is a big turnoff. I have the same emotional reaction to him as I do Bush.I do understand he and McCain drive the news cycle, but there is a whole politics out there less partisan and ignored by the mainstream media. It seems this angle could be your success.
Thanks.
I simply wanted to comment that while listening to Ron Silver on Indie Talk I heard the following comment: "I believe George W. Bush was/is the best president for our time. And he has been a very good president for the United States of America…"
Huh?
I turned to my wife sitting next to me, driving back from the grocery, with what I could imagine to be the most puzzled expression a human face could possibly exhibit. So in order to keep that expression of wonder from permanently freezing, I decided to do a little research on George W. Bush’s tenure as President of the United States, subsequently allowing me to reassure my original thinking that George W. Bush was/is in fact a complete an utter disaster in every way, shape, and form.
Ron Silver, are you insane?
I know you don’t like reading links, but I had no choice but to link this particular page, as it summarizes George W Bush’s resume in office…
http://monkeydyne.com/bushresume/resume.html
First off, his voice (Ron Silver) bores me to death. His mono tone would put a hyena to sleep!
Second, he is to far right to be on the Indie channel.

Add an "o" to "to"
Steve, some people can say that Pete is too far left to be on Indie. I don’t listen to Ron myself any more because his show makes me want to slice my wrists.
John, Pete to far left to be on Indie……blasphemy! Pete is the Indie channel !
Ron seems to be nice guy but I personally don’t think he has a good radio voice or style. Just my opinion. This on top of his far right views on many issues.
I’m trying to stay away from the Liberal/Conservative labels but it sure is hard. A lifetime of brainwashing is hard to erase!
